I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

Building a hexagon coaster

For Debbie 😄. Did this on my phone so photos are in weird order.  Start reading from bottom photo 😉
And voila! All done
Pivot when you hit the mitred  corner
Take to machine. I like to use a walking foot to stitch around the edges
Give the whole thing a good press
Continue gluing and pressing until you are back where you started. Re-press that fold so it's going in the same direction as all the others, glue and press
Oops meant to do circular stitches first
Continue all the way around
Fold over in place and press
Fold sides in and over ...Start first edge but  don't glue all the way across
I like Elmers washable school glue to hold the edges in place 
First press done
Take to ironing board and press over each side
All cut ready
I cut 1-1/4" from edge of top set-use a long ruler
Place top set on wrong side of backing allowing a good amount all around
Cut out with template 


Place top fabric with wadding

    Love the hexie coasters you sent me as well. Use them all the time.
    I made a pile as Xmas Gifts last year but didn't do the glueing. Great tip, thanks Helen.
