I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!!

pictures of Bilbies
Click here to read more about Australia's Bilbies!!

 Hi there!!

Well, it's the Easter long weekend, so I hope everyone is enjoying some quality time with family and friends.  Perhaps you are sewing all weekend... lucky you!!  Perhaps you are going away... stay safe and drive carefully!!  Perhaps you are going to church tonight... enjoy the friendship and fellowship!

Here in Australia there has been a campaign for a number of years to bring the Bilbies' plight to our attention, and we now can purchase Bilby chocolates for Easter instead of the good old Bunny!!  Personally I don't mind what shape it's in just as long as it is chocolate:-)    Anyway, I have included a link above and some pics for you to see what this is all about!!

My Easter plans are to just relax and do a bit of sewing, perhaps some tv (old movies) and a nice drive somewhere.

We are fortunate to be having a 5 day holiday, as our Easter Monday is also our Anzac Day, so we get the Tuesday off for Easter Monday holiday.  Anzac Day is a very important day in Australia and New Zealand, and in my own family as my Father and Mother were both in the forces during WWII.  My Dad passed away three years ago and my Mum is in a Nursing Home (she is 91 this coming July).  If you are interested in reading about our Anzac Day, click HERE.

TOMORROW IS ANZAC DAY

Thinking of my Dad and all those who served......

Our Mum was also in the Navy. She turns 90 this July. We will spend time with her tomorrow, my big sister is doing a lunch.

This blog has the most beautiful poem, take a read, it's just so moving.

In my sewing world I have managed to piece the rows together of the Brights Baby Quilt. Tomorrow I will get the rows joined into a top, then decide about borders. I'm feeling a little better with my cold, but still a little in "blurry land". I took a photo of the rows with my computer...

I know, terrible pic, tomorrow once it's all pieced I will take a photo with the camera. Right now I'm ready for a glass of red and some tele!

Happy Sewing!

IN FLANDERS' FIELDS...

Hi everyone!

The Poppy Quilt is ready to be backed and quilted - I think it's turned out o.k. I will go out tomorrow and purchase the backing and hopefully will have it all finished over this coming weekend. I'll post a photo of the finished quilt with label once it's all done. The presentation to the RSL will be on Remembrance Day, November 11th.

Nothing else accomplished this week - I did however go to the Gym twice! Feeling much better for it I must say. Brisbane has been hit with terribly hot weather the past couple of days, therefore sewing was the last thing anyone felt like doing. We have been promised a storm today and tomorrow so that will cool us all down!

A few posts ago I mentioned the wildlife we get on our hill. We seem to have our own Water Dragon as a permanent resident! He just loves our water fountain and the brass figurines which adorn it!! He's not the only Water Dragon either, as I have spotted a smaller one - not sure if it is a baby of the larger one, or perhaps a female! I guess if we find lots of little water dragons soon, we will know!!!

Happy Sewing!
