I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

MORE CHRISTMAS SEWING..... THIS TIME FOR ME!

Yes, more Christmas sewing....    but this time it's all for me!     I like to have something fun to wear on Xmas day so I whipped up a quick tee-shirt and bag.  I just recently purchased the bag pattern online (it's a pdf download) and this is my first attempt at making it.  I made do with what I had on hand but if I make it again, I will make sure I purchase the products used in the pattern - things like the proper interfacing and interlining etc etc.  Anyway, it has come out  okay and will be fun for Xmas day.  The tee-shirt is a purchased one from David Jones and I did the applique - very quickly!  It's just for one day after all!  I will get to wear it next year at my Craft group Christmas lunch.

I hope to be back just before Christmas, so see you then,

Happy Sewing!!
Helen

I thought one of my sister's beautiful fabric flowers would look nice on the new bag!

... AND A FEW MORE CHRISTMAS FINISHES......

Yes, I've been doing some more sewing.......   just had to make Chloe a new Christmas outfit too (I was meant to make these shorts, as there was JUST enough fabric leftover from making Bridget's pair).. the shirt is from BigW, lovely quality.

Market Bag for Mahala
Quite some time ago, I made a Market Bag for my Niece Mahala but in typical Aunty Henny fashion, never got around to mailing it to her.  So, today I made a matching List Taker.....
Quilted List-Taker for Mahala
(I had a go at doing free motion quilting around
the fabric details - not too bad for
a first attempt!)
Lovely antique button I found in my stash!

I even attempted to write her name!

This gift will be in the mail tomorrow!

and just in case you are new to my blog....   Bridget and Chloe are my Great-Nieces and Lachie is my Great-Nephew.  As my son Matt is only 17 going on 18 (big moan here) I have not got to the Grandmother stage just yet!  give me time!  I just hope I can see to sew by then :-))

Dare I say I will be back with yet MORE Christmas sewing?    you never know!

Happy Sewing!!

CHRISTMAS SEWING

Hi there!

Yes, I'm back.  BigPond finally got their act together and I now have my email account up and running again plus of course, my internet.

I have been busy getting some Christmas sewing finished.......

PATTERNS USED:   DOLLY BASKETS ..  the wonderful free pattern from  Geta's Quilting Studio..
click   HERE    for link.   This a great pattern.  We used this pattern in the Quilted Basket Swap earlier in the year.

ART FOLDER ..  another fantastic pattern.  This time from Jennifer Casa at JCasa handmade .. click  HERE  for link.

I also made another Dolly basket for a little friend, but I forgot to take a piccy - it was very cute too!

I still have a few things to finish off, but I feel very happy to have all the special things ready for the little ones - I have added a few stocking fillers into their bags plus one dvd each (suggested by their Mum's).

Just lately our weather has been so glorious!  no hot and sweaty days for quite a while now.... I wonder if this means we will have a cool Christmas Day (as opposed to a sweltering hot and yukky day) -  I love this weather .. so perfect for sewing....  so I had better get back to it!

Happy Sewing,

Helen
