BACK IN BUSINESS!

Thanks to a sewing machine fix-it man, I'm back quilting! It turned out to be just a little pin which had come out (I was sewing VERY fast!) and would you believe it..... I found it in the quilt!

I've decided to send my Siggy swap friends a Christmas Siggy, here is the first one I have sent.

My Holly Jolly Christmas Wallhanging is now almost 100% complete.... just need to dig into my stash of buttons and sew a few around the border (this will cover up a few glitches in my quilting!) I used two different fabrics for the binding..... they were all I had left!! I will put a label on it, will do that through the week. It's hard to pick it, but there is a hanging sleeve at the top! I used the leftover bits from the edges after I had finished quilting it.

Back to quilting the Flea Market Boxes! Almost all the way around..... hooray :-)

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

I went out today and purchased the backing fabric for the Poppy Quilt then I went to K-Mart for their socks and undies sale; picked up some more little tee's for B.B. so I can do some more applique sets for her - - - one thing I noticed in the shopping centre...... CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Everywhere you look, it's trees and decorations and all of the shops were playing Christmas music!! I quite liked Myer's as they were playing Elvis Presley christmas music. (I like the old stuff - right now I'm listening to Jim Reeves on my computer!)

This of course put me in the Christmas mood, so I came home and washed the backing fabric and hung it out to dry and then proceeded to piece together my Christmas blocks. Now I'm searching through all of the leftover fabrics to make up a border and backing - might as well use as much of it as possible as I'm sure next Christmas will bring a whole new range of fabrics for us to buy!!

CHRISTMAS WALL HANGING

   The new christmas wall-hanging for this year will be a pattern from Australian Homespun magazine --  It's A Holly Jolly Christmas.  The original pattern has 16 blocks, but my version will only have 9.  I already have some of them partially completed.  I've done the blanket stitching (I like this tutorial-very clear and exact) and here is another tutorial BUT -I actually do my blanket stitch a little differently, I believe it's called the English version.  I have left the features and embellishments till the end.  Each block will have a patchwork border and then I will add a final border of a novelty christmas print, instead of doing all of the extra applique as in the original.  I might give in and perhaps do just one corner with applique, not sure yet.  You can see the blocks I am using in my gallery.

Tomorrow, we are heading down to the Gold Coast for 4 days.  I have lots of stitching to take with me and a couple of good books.  I'm taking Bridget's Farm Quilt blocks and also the Christmas blocks, so even if it rains the whole time I will still have plenty to keep me occupied!  

There are a couple of Patchwork shops in the vicinity as well so I'll be checking those out!  I'm still building the stash for the Popsicle Posies Quilt.
