I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

BIRDS IN THE AIR

BLOCK # 9    BIRDS IN THE AIR
CIVIL WAR QUILT

I have finally made the block for this week....  Birds in the Air.   Now, this should have been a very straightforward block but OH NO!    NOT FOR ME!   It took me three attempts before I was happy!  I just could not get it to come out at the correct size.  I tweaked the measurements just a little and this block is the result.

MY TWEAKING....

My HST'S which form the Birds in the Air are pieced at 3 1/8" and I used "scant"  1/4" seams.  My block is just a tad under
8 1/2" pieced   (8" finished)

MUG RUGS RECEIVED....

I received my two Mug Rugs last week and forgot to take a pic of the little parcel - which is a shame as there was chocolate involved!!  Mmmmmm... sorry, no piccy of the choccy!  Tina from Canada also sent me a lovely ID tag which I have put on my  Rotary Cutter.

Time for a cuppa!

Happy Sewing!!
