I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

During my week of convalescence I have received such lovely siggies..... THANK YOU to Mandy, Erich, Bernabela, Renate, Pat, Klazien, Terry and Hannie!!! All so beautiful and each one so individual! My collection is certainly growing .. soon I will make the first wall-hanging for my sewing room!

..... and some more of my collection....

I am feeling so much better this week - my sister has been taking such good care of me!

My thanks to everyone for your get well wishes. I have enjoyed lots of blog surfing these past few days - I'm amazed at how much some of you achieve in one week --- so many "finished" quilts for 2010!!! Ah yes, which brings me to my own sorry list..... where's the Beach Quilt you ask...... still on the machine I say!! BUT!!! I have managed another two rows of "in the ditch" quilting so won't be long now and I'll be putting the binding on:-)

Happy Sewing!!

KOOKABURRA SITS IN THE OLD GUM TREE...........

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.....merry merry king of the bush is he.......

Well, he's certainly merry around our house. He first visited us around Xmas Day, then every day since and he now has introduced his friend (the one in the tree!)

BEACH QUILT! FINALLY PIECED..... and you thought it was a figment of my imagination:-))
In the sewing department.... not a lot happening, but I have finally managed to get
the Beach Quilt together, just deciding if it needs a border. This quilt has taken me far too long to get done. I now want it finished and delivered to B.B. On seeing how big it has become, I don't think a border will be required!! Great, let's just quilt it and get the fringing on and hand it over!

FIRST SIGGY FOR 2010 :- I received a beautiful Siggy from Tonny from The Netherlands. As you can see, it is a tiny little X-Stitch (I think a tulip? or an Iris?)

Also in the mail recently, a lovely surprise from Lynda - a great hot pad - you can see how Lynda makes these if you click on the link above. Thanks Lynda!! I want to have a go at making some of these myself but I was so happy to receive one from you!

O.K., that's it for now,

Happy Sewing
