I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

SEWING ON CHRISTMAS EVE!

Bridget's new christmas clothes
I made the shorts and bought the tee's and then appliqued patches from the shorts fabric.
I just used fusible web to iron on the patches, then went around the patch with my sewing machine!

Chloe's new christmas clothes
because she saw Bridget's and wanted the same

I have only just now finished the sewing for Chloe's shorts and tee's.  MH and I babysat Chloe (my great-niece, aged 5)  this past week and she was helping me to choose the applique's for Bridget's tops and commented how she would really really like the same.  Did I have enough fabric?  or the right size tee's..... NO ,  I did not!   So of course, on christmas eve, out I went and purchased more, came home and VOILA!

Happy Sewing!

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER.......

I know - this sewing has NOTHING to do with my new GO CUTTER!  I wanted to get this little set made for our darling little B.B.   Too cute!

I really need to get in some serious playing on the GO but this week is just flying by.  MH and I are back to our usual routine at the gym with a coffee after, so that's the morning GONE!  and of course, there is always SOMETHING to clean or put away or tidy up or whatever in our home - poor excuses I know - so tomorrow I will do a quick walk around the tennis court and then set up the GO and start cutting!!

Happy Sewing!

PRIMA BALLERINA

O.K., so she's only two and it's Kinda-dance and so far she has only learnt the cha-cha ------ but B.B. just HAS to have a Ballerina Bag .... found this great fabric today in Spotlight ..

Bag making in process right now!

Also ran these little shorts up for her and of course, a tee to match! (Shorts by me, tee from Big W, applique by me!)

Chloe's belated birthday present is all ready to be sent in the mail.....

Dolly came out o.k. - can you spot the mistake? .. Her arms are upside down! well, according to the pattern they are! I have NO IDEA how I did this - so I'm just going to say that she has her arms spread wide ready to give Chloe a hug! and check out the gorgeous brooch! This is just what I had in mind! Chloe can wear it herself if she wants to .. thanks to the girls at Sckafs Fabrics, Indooroopilly!!

So, back to the sewing machine..... we've just had a great thunderstorm and now it's raining - how I love to sew when it's raining! (and in case you are wondering.... yes, I am playing my country music!!! Jim Reeves "He'll Have to Go" is on right now :-) I know, not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I have had a wonderful afternoon with my sewing friends.  There are three September birthdays between us and one more in December, so we celebrated this-afternoon with a pot-luck lunch, wine and coffee!  My friends gave me the beautiful flowers, chocolates and lovely cards - THANK YOU girls, I have had a great Birthday!  One card in particular is very clever!

Yesterday, I had morning tea with my Sister, Mum, Niece and little Bridget. We had a delightful time, especially with Bridget entertaining us.  It was my Niece's birthday yesterday and it is my other little Great-Niece's birthday tomorrow, September 12th.  Chloe will be 4.  I have been on a wonderful shopping expedition, searching for all things Butterflies. The party theme is Caterpillars and Butterflies!  Chloe lives in Toowoomba, which is about an hour and a half (132 K's)  from Brisbane, heading West.  I'm going to help with the party and have a sleep-over. There are some great patchwork shops in Toowoomba, so I am hoping to get up there early and check them out!

BRIDGET'S NEW CLOTHES:-  Remember those little shorts - well, here are the finished outfits!  I bought the little Tee's at K-Mart and just sewed the patches by machine onto the fronts.  B.B. (beautiful Bridget) seemed to like them and ended up wearing the "hula hula" tee-shirt home from the coffee morning.  My Niece will let me know which pair of shorts fits the best and then I will make some more.  It was amazing to see the difference in the sizes between the shorts pattern I used 13 years ago and the new pattern I bought recently.  Size 2 was much bigger when I made shorts for my own son (who is now 15).

Tonight we are having "take-away" Chinese food and a nice bottle of red -- but not too much of the red, as I want to be up early and on the road to Toowoomba.

Happy Stitching!
