I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

ONE WEEK

Hello friends,

It has been a very full week.  My mum passed away on February 5th and the funeral was on Monday February 15th.  As many of my followers know, Mum had dementia but very healthy in every other aspect.

This photo was taken some months ago when we were
sewing together - Mum would hand me two squares of fabric
and I would sew them up.

The last two weeks of mum's life saw her stop eating and drinking, she then was placed on Palliative care for one week, passing away peacefully just after lunchtime on the Friday.  I had been to visit  just the week before which was lovely as mum was pretty good that day.
My girlfriend (on the left) with me and mum.

I wrote on my Facebook page this message..........No sadness for me, just so happy that Mum is finally at peace and I know just how happy she will be to reunite with so many of her family members who have been waiting for her. Mum didn't make it to 100 (although she would tell you some days that she was 102 !) but 95 is an outstanding achievement. During my last visit with Mum she said that she could see the cows coming in (Mum was raised on a farm)..... and only a few days after that she was still joining in singing "She'll be coming 'round the mountain" (a song we often would sing with her). There is a verse in that song... "and we'll all be there to meet her when she comes" ... I know Dad and Pete and all the others were there to meet her.

So as I said.... a full week.

Thank goodness I have my sewing.  I have kept myself busy with little projects and just today I have started the quilting on the Farm Quilt I have been making for our neighbour's little granddaughter.

My sewing themed table runner - finally finished!!
This was the project I was doing last year with the Scrap Dance quilt along (from my Carolina Home)

and the back of the runner.

Two little tee shirts for Maisy and Amos
