I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

I'M DOING IT........ I'M DOING IT

As Basil Fawlty once said!!! Those not familiar with Basis and Fawlty Towers, please refer to link! Anyway......... yes, I'm doing it..... the binding on the Christmas Quilt.... yes, really!! O.K, I'm also having a lovely chilled glass of Rose - it's been an awfully hot and humid day here so the Rose is a MUST! Nice breeze coming in now and I'm sitting out on the deck just finishing off the binding. MH and boy are down on the tennis court.

I've spent the day machine quilting (on and off, bit of grocery shopping in there somewhere!) but would you believe it....... I've just broken the machine quilting foot!!! Now I know I was speeding, but I didn't think I was going that fast:-) How do I know it's broken? Trust me, it is - the needle told me so!! I was trying to finish the Flea Market Fancy quilt - getting tired of it just laying over the door of the sewing table! Underneath it is the Vine quilt which I appliqued ages ago and pinned ready to quilt! Although the weather was not the best for quilting, I was just in the mood! Flea Market is coming out o.k. I'm not the greatest at the meandering, but it's all practise and I know Mahala will just love it, funny quilting and all!!

O.K., back to the binding and I guess I had better plan a little something for dinner!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Congratulations on finishing your Christmas Quilt, your miles ahead of me. Nothing nicer than a glass of your favorite wine on a hot summers day. Enjoy!!

  4. You're a wonder. Just too hot & stinky to even think about sewing although I've got to get a baby one finished as the child is due soon. Of course with the weather the way it is a quilt is not an immediate necessity for a baby born in Brisbane right now.
