I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

Go Cutting ... And loving it!

The last few sashing strips to add to the left side of the first blocks in each row - chain piecing makes short work of this job. I learnt years ago to finish a seam with needle down and then butt up the next block to sew ... This way your chain stitching starts and ends with a full stitch right at the edge of the fabric and you don't leave too large a gap between blocks (not good to sew without fabric under the foot).

I went through the scrap bin from the Civil War Quilt and started cutting the 2-1/2" cornerstones for the sashing - so much easier using the Go Cutter.

Lovely cold afternoon here, perfect sewing weather.

Happy Sewing!
Cheers from Helen

    1. Ha ha Suz!! well it was only around 17 degrees when I posted (yes I know that's NOT cold !) getting down around 12 tonight. Brisbane has lovely Winters that's for sure :-) Yes I've had the Go Cutter for a few years now. I love it for boring jobs like these 2-1/2" squares especially when I'm cutting up scraps - just layer up about 6 pieces and cut! too easy :-) I mainly do Appliqué blocks with it, have just about every die that the Go Cutter can take!
