I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 59, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew who is 20. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

MAGNETIC BOOKMARK

Last Tuesday I taught a workshop making these extra large paperclip bookmarks.  They are lots of fun to make using covered buttons with flat backs and the bookmark part already has a glue pad attached.

We used Size 60 covered buttons and Selleys Ultra Repair glue.  After we glued the button on to the bookmark we added a large ceramic strength magnet to the back of the button.  This way you can use the item as either a bookmark or a note/photo holder for the fridge!

I'm still working on the secret sewing....  no hope of getting it done by tomorrow so check back over the weekend and hopefully you will see what I've been making!

Happy Sewing!
Cheers from Helen

  1. This is such a cute idea and something everybody can use. I'm always losing my bookmarks.

I have disabled WORD VERIFICATION for now - everyone is complaining about the new two word system. I tried Comment Moderation but that drives you crazy too. I have enabled REGISTERED USERS for comments so sorry if you are ANONYMOUS. I'm sorry but if I receive too much SPAM, then I will go back to word verification as SPAM is also annoying!
