I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

AN OLD FAVOURITE...

I was in need of a lucky door prize for my craft group, and I wanted something quick and easy…..  this Quilted List Taker is one of my favourite patterns -  it's a pattern by JCasa Handmade…. you can find it HERE.  I made this one this afternoon.  I just started pulling any Christmas fabric scrap that looked like it would fit and made up my patchwork piece first….

wonky patchwork - just sew it on any way you like!  and then have some fun with crazy straight line quilting!
I add a row of stay stitching all around the outside edge, this helps keep your patchwork intact.  This stitching will be inside the finished seam allowance.
then I trimmed it all back even with my piece of wadding…….

I didn't get photos of the next steps, but I layered the pieces… and got it all stitched together.    I found a cute antique button in my stash and there you have it!  one lucky door prize!

Check out JCasa Handmade for lots of lovely patterns and ideas!

I have used  these List Takers for years now.  I have one for "everything" and one for "Christmas".  It's great to have everything in one place - for instance in my Christmas one I have my cards, stamps, address list and gift list.   In my "everything" one, I have…. well…. everything!  you know, the stuff you need when you go out shopping!

One lucky door prize done!

Happy Sewing!!
Cheers from Helen

    2. and once again, I have just discovered that my settings had reverted ME to a "no reply blogger" AGAIN ! I'm really getting tired of this and it's all to do with Google + I've fixed my settings now.

  6. I received the link to this pattern from you a couple of years ago and since then have made them for every member of the family. I hadn't thought about having separate ones for different holidays or events, so I'll have the pleasure of making a few more.
