I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

WELCOME TO THE NORTH POLE

I have joined Val and a lovely bunch of ladies for this sew-along.  I must have had this book in my cupboard for about 15 years!  This sew-along will finally make me do something with it!

The goal for January was to have our fabrics chosen ---  I have started going through some of my Christmas fabric but I think I'll move into the scrap box soon too.....

I will be using the blanket stitch fusible appliqué method instead of needleturn.  I see Val is doing machine applique and it looks great.....  I might throw in some sketchy machine appliqué as well!

Today I scanned the pattern for Santas House and have it all printed out ready to start tracing - now to just decide on fabric......

Happy Sewing!!

  3. Can't believe this design has been around for so long :)
It seems needle turn is not the popular finish. I love all your fabric choices. There are lots of little pieces required so I am going to try to use up some of my small scraps. I love that we are all off to a great start.

  4. Cute pattern and with all those little pieces, your method of applique will be the best choice. Love your fabrics - very fun!!! We look like the north pole this morning after 7" of new snow and a prediction of 17 degrees below zero for tonight. Yep - winter in Wisconsin and I dream of your warm summer right now.
