I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

BUILT ANOTHER LOG CABIN!

Still an 8" finished block but with a 2" finished centre square
and 1" finished logs.  I liked the look of some other blocks in the flickr
group where the same fabric is used for the L return, so I
made this one.
I love making Log Cabins!
(note: photo cropped and really is 8 1/2" square!)

I had lots of fun digging out scraps to make this block.  I really did not want to cut into any of the 10" squares I have not used, so I went to my scrapbox of already used fabrics and was lucky to find enough of each fabric to make the two matching strips.

Quite a number of CWQ members have used this version for Block 7.  I like both the first version (with the wider logs and larger centre square) and this one and I also like the Courthouse Steps version too!  All three blocks will most probably finish up in the quilt.

No other sewing to show this week, but I am keen to start another Applique quilt..... "Royal Critters" - it's a free download HERE.   My Friday Friends have already started this one, but I really don't have ANY fabric for it!!!  I know, hard to believe!!!  A shopping trip is in my future!!

Happy Sewing!!

  3. The first block I ever made, about 27 years ago was a log cabin in this traditional manner. Even the red centre is spot on!

  4. Isn't that fun. We live so far apart, but today I have a picture on my blog of the fabrics I got. One of them is the blue with red flower you show in your log cabin.
