I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

TO MARKET, TO MARKET... IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING!

"MARKET BAG"
pattern by:  Rebeka Lambert ..  artsy-crafty babe
fabrics:  Bush Sultana .. designed by Audrey Napanangka for M & S Textiles,Australia
& Freebird by MM for moda

The bag is fully reversible, here is the inside view.
I used the Bush Sultana fabric for the "outside" and
Freebird on the "inside"

MH is heading away on Monday... going overseas to Papua New Guinea with a stopover in Singapore to visit friends.  I made this Market Bag as a gift for the friends in Singapore.  It is difficult to photograph, but you get the idea!

I love this pattern and I really love this bag!  I now take my own Market Bag with me for grocery shopping and honestly, I can fit so much into this bag!!  I especially love it for fruit and veg.

It's pouring rain..... again!!   Even "she who loves to sew when it's raining" has had enough!!!

Thank you to everyone who has sent messages regarding the terrible flooding we are experiencing here in Queensland.  Brisbane (where I live) is quite okay, but the people out in Emerald and up in Rockhampton and Bundaberg have really been hit hard.  If you click here, you can see some pics.  My home is up high in the hills, so floods will never worry us, but we are in a high fire danger area.  Usually we are on alert for fires at this time of year, but instead we are surrounded by water.

Happy Sewing!

  3. Great bag Helen. So good to hear that you are not in the flood zone though in the news it looked so disastrous and I worried about my Aussie friends. I am so glad that you are well.
