I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

WHERE'S SNOW WHITE WHEN YOU NEED HER?

The clean up continues. You've probably noticed that I'm not in any hurry to get it done!! I'm working my way around the room, picking up, putting away, ironing, ironing, ironing:-( AND throwing out stuff too. My dear friends who know me so well will not be surprised when they hear that I have "found" a great new toy..... it's a "Decor" box made for pastries, but fits a quilt project perfectly!! It's airtight (take that you grubs!) and has tags on the front to write on! O.K., perhaps a little expensive $wise for such a purpose, but after finding my embroidery eaten, I'm happy to pay the price (A$12) I've taken a photo of the shelf where the new boxes will reside.....
sorry about the flash! The new boxes are the square ones on the left.

I'm afraid no sewing achieved for a couple of days... did go to the gym!! In the clean up, I have found a quilt top I made some time ago, using the disappearing 9-patch pattern (photo soon) - I had forgotten all about it so will now get it finished - I am amazed by all of the "finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd quilt for 2010 posts I have been reading on other Blogs!!! - you know who you are:-)
I think being "snowed in" like many of you are must really help with sewing time. Sadly, we are in a heat wave over here and most days sewing is the last thing you feel like!

O.K., it's late, I'm hot and need a cool shower, then perhaps a little sorting of the sewing table (again!) before bed.

Happy Sewing!!

  2. That clean up sounds exhausting...especially in the heat. Think how organized and clean it will be when you are done tho. Then you can mess it up again in a flurry of creativity.

  3. How very organized! I should be cleaning up but I am just not motivated to do it. It has been so cold here but no snow. Hopefully the cold spell will break today.
