I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

THE WEEK IN REVIEW.....

O.K..... here is the week in review.......
1. Australia Day holiday - weather too hot to even bother with entertaining
2. Boy goes back to school, mother drinks lots of coffee, mother spends time in sewing room
3. Boy happy at new school, mother drinks even more coffee and spends even more time in sewing room.
4. Boy is remembering all his lunch boxes and parts of uniform, mother very happy
5. Mother gets a bug (chesty cough, feeling woozy), mother stops drinking coffee but still spends time in sewing room
6. Housework not done in over two weeks but don't really care (there is always next week) BUT, all that time in the sewing room is paying off..... B.B.'s Beach Quilt is actually being quilted!! I know, hard to believe, but TRUE!! not happy with choice of thread, but too late now!
7. More siggy blocks arriving every day... better get back to drinking coffee so I can do the hand sewing!!!!

Still feeling "off" today, but will spend some more time in sewing room later and see if I can get the quilt done.

Will do an update post over the weekend with pics!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Helen, sorry you are feeling "off" the last couple of days. But at least you got to spend time in your sewing room. I remember those days when my kids would all leave for school....sometimes there was dancing in the streets by all the mothers in the neighborhood!

  3. Sorry to hear you're not too good although timed well with us not getting together this week. I know you're happy but don't get too carried away with stuff coming back from school & not getting lost...early days yet! Storm brewing so fingers crossed it cools it down a bit xx

  4. Isn't it funny that when we have more free time we don't do housework!
