I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

EVERYTHING BUT ......

Hello!

A finish at last! ...    ages and ages ago  (September 2016) I pieced this somewhat colourful lap quilt🙂🙂. It’s a log cabin of sorts .. I used up hundreds of strings and small strips .... the back is made up of leftover strips too.   The binding is a treasured Denise Schmidt fabric from the deep stash.   I think I’ll name this one “everything but............the kitchen sink😁”. Quilted on my Sweet Sixteen 😍

I’m back working on my Land Down Under quilt ... a girl wombat 😁.  Bella 🙂  I used my new Brother NV1800Q.  I’ve discovered it has auto pivot.... so handy for doing blanket stitching.

A quick project using my Go Cutter ...  just 2-1/2” squares and 1” squares plus some 2-1/2” strips ... a St Patrick’s Day table hanger.   I found some vintage buttons to finish it off.   The original pattern was in Quilting Quickly Mar/Apr 2016 and can also be found at Quilting Daily online. So now back to my sewing!

Happy sewing!
Cheers from Helen
