I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

PEEK-A-BOO

Took a quick pic with my phone so colours are not true but wanted to show you all the "have I got a spare quilt" baby quilt!  A couple of days ago hubby asked me that very question! A friend has become a grandfather to a baby boy and my hubby wants to gift them a quilt.  Lucky for me there were these red work embroidered pieces in my stash (have no idea when I did them!) and then I tipped out my scrap bin and searched until I found enough fabric.... Although you may spot the joined piece on bottom right corner - the spot fabric.

So happy with it - all from the scrap bin!! Going to layer and pin it now so will come back with a finished quilt pic soon :-)

Happy sewing!
Cheers from Helen

  1. It's beautiful Helen. I've often thought I should make a spare quilt up ready for a gift and never got around to it. I love your idea of using up blocks.
