I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

SEWING ON WEDNESDAY

Working on my improvised cutting/pinning "kitchen bench" table, pinning a mini I Spy for Maisy. Maisy often visits us, which usually involves a plane trip so I thought a mini quilt to keep her entertained was just the thing. I had just the right size piece of wadding (I measure the odd pieces of wadding so it makes it quick and easy to find what I need) plus there was a piece of fairy fabric in the stash which was perfect for the backing. Now to get it quilted - will do diagonal - easy when the quilt is longer than it is wide - starting in top left corner and keep turning clockwise. Then start in opposite corner and repeat the process. This top is 6 blocks wide by 7 blocks long. I use blue painters tape to mark the quilting lines.
