Block 9 gave me another opportunity to use the June Tailor ruler (Perfect Half Square and Quarter Square Triangles) and once again I am so happy that I now own this ruler! Absolutely perfect HST's every time!
Block 10 brought in the Square in a Square block. Usually when making this block, four triangles are sewn onto the centre square but I do my SqnSq block another way...... I use the Square in a Square technique ruler by Jodi Barrows. This method joins rectangles to each side of the square and then you trim up that unit with the special ruler. I have used this method for some time now for my Siggy blocks.
I made two of the Sq in a Sq units for Block 10 using the Jodi Barrow ruler for trimming and the other two units were trimmed up with the June Tailor ruler. I must say, I prefer the JT ruler!
My blocks were perfect 5-1/2" squares but I did find that I had to use a true 1/4" seam (and not a scant) when sewing the blocks together.
It's funny how you 'forget' things when sewing.... it was only when I was piecing the blocks together that I noticed that I had pressed my seams to one side when building the SqnSq units and unfortunately I left them pressed that way. It would have been much better if I had pressed all the seams open when constructing the SqnSq units. Much less bulk!
Anyway, I'm happy with both Blocks. I have finished the Batik version of Block 9.....

Now all I need to do is make the Batik version of block # 10.
SIGGY BLOCKS:- I have been very remiss in not posting about the Siggy Blocks I have received over the past few months. Thank you to all of the ladies who have sent me a Siggy Block, I am updating my Picasa Siggy Block Album and also updating the list in my sidebar....... you should see your name/block appear very soon!! I still enjoy being in the Siggy exchange. I love to receive a little envelope in the mailbox and to read about where the Siggy block has come from and about that persons sewing and family. Okay, so that's it from me for one day, I am just about to put the binding on the baby quilt I've been making and then maybe I'll cut out the Batik fabrics for Block # 10.
