I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

So, I was searching through my "stuff" and found.....

this Stitchery I probably finished at least 5 years ago!!!   I was actually looking for something new to work on, but as I had this "on hand" I put some borders on, layered it up, quilted and bound it with a hanging sleeve - I gave this to a friend today who has become a first time Grandmother to a little baby Grandson.

I used the machine binding again, quick and done!

A recent Siggy block....

thank you Jeanneke!!   I love the antique sewing machine Jeanneke has stamped on - I really must learn to do some stamping - it certainly is a lovely way to make a Siggy block.

Unfortunately I am still under the weather with my cold.  It just keeps hanging on!!  Fred thought he might be getting it, but seems to have fought it off for now.  Fingers crossed that he does not succumb, as he must be well for Monday!

I'll be back with some more show and tell soon.... just need to take some pics!

Happy Sewing!!
Cheers from Helen

  1. Love these teddies, and they look lovely in blue on the calico - isn't it nice when we finish something, even if the beginning and the end are so far apart :)
