I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

KEEP MOVIN' .. QUILTED, BOUND AND DELIVERED! PLUS AN UPDATE ON FRED!

YES, I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED THE KEEP MOVIN' QUILT!!
SIMPLE QUILTING - I USED MY WAVE EDGE RULER TO MARK THE QUILTING LINES EACH SIDE OF THE INTERSECTIONS AND ALSO DITCH QUILTED.

THE LABEL.  IT REALLY IS STRAIGHT!
DESPITE HOW THIS PICTURE LOOKS!

ONCE AGAIN I USED THE WIDE BINDING TECHNIQUE
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!

I know you have been reading about this quilt for quite some time, but for those who are new to my blog, here are the details.....

PATTERN:   KEEP MOVIN' BY KAREN DUMONT ...   find the website HERE    The pattern is called "ON THE GO" on the website but I found the pattern in a Magazine (QUICK QUILTS, SUMMER 2010)

WIDE BINDING TECHNIQUE.....   (I have had to delete the link as the site is having problems with malware).   I absolutely LOVE this method for attaching binding to quilts.  It's fast and makes the binding very secure, great for kid's quilts!

It feels good to have this one "out the door".  I also delivered another version of the Toy Twist quilt but forgot to take a photo!  It was a larger version of the ones I have made previously.

I've been doing lots of hand sewing, cute little Monkeys (pattern called Tumbling Monkeys - Quiltmaker July/August '11) - today I will put the pieced blocks together so a photo soon!  Pattern by:  Heidi Pridemore from   thewhimsicalworkshop.com

This has been a fun project to work on during the many visits to the Hospital and of course... our usual daily coffee outing!  Fred is feeling quite well at present and will commence the chemo on June 18th.  Unfortunately I have come down with a horrible head cold and it looks like I might have passed it on to him, so we are hoping he doesn't get it too bad and will still be able to start the chemo as planned.  He will go into hospital for this first dose.  In on the 18th and possibly out on the 19th, depending on how it all goes.  The risk to his heart is high so the Doctor wants to keep a close eye on him.

So I had better have another dig through my patterns and find ANOTHER hand sewing project:-)

I have a few things to show you too but this is a long enough post!  I have been shopping online and now have some gorgeous standing quilt frames and a new Bag book.  Plus a few siggy blocks too so I'll get organised with some pics and do another post soon,

Happy Sewing and Cheers from Helen

Those bad colds seem to be making the rounds. I hope it does not delay Fred's treatment schedule.
