I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 61, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew who is 23. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

ONE MORE!

BLOCK # 26   BARBARA FRIETCHIE STAR
photo is a bit wonky, but the block
IS a square:-)

I've been waiting for a block suitable to use the last little bit of the pretty blue fabric - the pinwheel in this block was just perfect!

This one is ALL HST's so a bit heavy on the bulky seams but it came out right on 8-1/2" square, so I'm happy!

See you soon!   need to give the old back a little rest and a hot soak in the tub!!

  1. Love these blocks Helen. I have found some very old fabric that I think would suit the Civil War blocks just perfect - perhaps I should keep them, instead of selling them off :-)
Take care with the back, hope the physio helps lots!

  3. Rest up and look after yourself. There's probably nothing worse than a sore back. If you are unable to sew then blog...keeps you busy.. and enthusiastic! :)
    take care.
