I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

I can show you two Christmas baskets I have put together ..
4 hexagon coasters (so quick and easy), a mini Christmas Pudding and of course..... some chocolates!!
Christmas baskets - gifts for two
friends ..   4 hexagon coasters, mini xmas
pudding and some chocolates!

Our weather has finally turned hot and humid with the odd afternoon thunderstorm.... just in time for Christmas day:-)

Tonight I plan to do some more sewing.....  I have an overhead fan and the room is quite cool.   I have some new patterns I'm keen to try - they are Snap Purses (click for link) using cut up metal tape measures ..  will let you know how they turn out!
.... then again, I could just sit on the verandah with a glass of red!!

Happy Sewing!!

  1. With weather like that on the way the red sounds like a good choice. Happy crafting no matter what you make.

It's all so beautiful Helen. I especially like the ballerina bag!

    You're so talented.

  2. I'm enjoying a Bailey's whilst reading this - just finished (well I hope, it needs to be checked in daylight) the quilting on a Symposium 2011 challenge - it's taken weeks to do 'cause I'm such a worrier, or procrastinator! Congrats on doing some beautiful sewing for pressies - they are very lucky recipients!

  5. Looks like you have been busy with Christmas sewing. I am almost done now. Just an Indian costume for a grandson left and then maybe I can really clean up my sewing room.
