I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

NO MORE GO CUTTER COMPETITIONS FOR ME!!!

Why is that, you might ask!!!??!

This might explain it........
Yes, I actually bought myself one!!!   I was so very excited when I found there was someone at the Craft Show who was a local distributor...  QUILTING PATCHWORK AUSTRALIA - they are in Raceview Queensland (just up the road from where I live!), their website is...  www.quiltingpatchwork.com.au  and their email is...   info@quiltingpatchwork.com.au    (and NO, I'm not on their payroll!) - I was just so happy to find that I could purchase my GO locally, as I know I will be wanting to buy more dies and supplies.

I haven't had a play with the GO as yet.... it's still in the box, waiting for me to decide where to put it in my sewing room.
So, O.K. you would think that I couldn't possibly have bought anything else after buying my GO ..   aahhh, but you're wrong.....
a few necessities...  replacement blades for the Olfa  ;  two spools of my favourite thread WonderFil InvisaFil {great in the bobbin for quilting}  ;  premium cotton printable fabric sheets  {for my quilt labels}  and can you see the little red snail? .. he's a little tape measure (a gift from one of my friends!)       plus some new toys....
A Curve Master presser foot  -  I have wanted one for ages and there was a deal (presser foot, tweezers and roller) .... I have never done curved piecing so now I can't wait to try it!!
and of course, some new patterns...

A delightful embroidery pattern from  ELLA & SKYSIE DESIGNS ...  FUNKY FAIRY .. it's an iron on pattern which included cute little buttons.
Monica Poole's fabulous book QUILT AS YOU GO.  The book has five quilt patterns and all the instructions for her method of "quilt as you go".

Plus, of course --- some FABRIC .. II found two more ballerina fabrics as I want to make a couple of the Ballerina Bags.

My friends and I had made quite a number of the Breast Cancer Bags which we delivered at the Show.  You can see pics of the bags in my Flickr.

The girls and I enjoyed our day at the Craft Show.

Happy Sewing!!

  10. Hello Helen, first thank you very much for your lovely siggy, card and bookmark
I love your siggy, I will show it on my site today.
I love your little siggy wall hanging.
What a lovely bird is the Kookaburra.
I think my partner would love to stay for a while where you live, with all the birds and other animals.
Lovely all those presents you bought yourself.
I love the bag you made
I wish you all the best with other competitions, my quilt which I entered arrived now in Holland for the sick children (Jopies Dromenquilts) for who I make a few quilts a year. I love to read what you did with you group of ladies for those families.
    Greetings Johanna in Sweden

I'm also going to be interested to hearing your thoughts on the Curve Master presser foot. I haven't had a chance to use this product, but definitely interested.

  18. Hi Helen. Just wondering if you are enjoying your GO and if you will recommend buying one. I like using precuts. like charm sqaure and layer cakes. Is it big enoughfor a LC ? Did you pay less at the show than online? we have a show in Sydney coming up soon. LOVE you Civil War blocks by the way!!!!
