I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

I HAVE A PAPER DOLL TO CALL MY OWN!

Paper Doll FABRIC that is!!!  My wonderful prize arrived in last nights mail - here is how it looked when I opened the parcel.

I've since opened it up and all of the fabric is so lovely!  I can't wait to make something with it.  It's called "Paper Doll Christmas".

As promised, the first thing I will make is a bag for a CHRISTMAS GIVE-A-WAY.  So keep your eye out for a give-a-way announcement very soon:-)

This is the latest bag I have made.  It's a pattern by Rebeka Lambert from artsy-crafty babe patterns.  This is a fun bag to make - I will be taking it to the Craft Show tomorrow and most probably will fill it up!  Right now it has the Breast Cancer Bags in it to deliver at the show.

Rebeka designed the bag with re-purposing in mind..... she suggests using vintage sheets (I'll be keeping my eye out for them at the local thrift shops now!)  You need around 2 1/2 yards of fabric - I was lucky to have a piece of antique fabric in my stash.  That's the green floral I have used for the outside of the bag.  It's very old fabric and I think this bag pattern is just perfect for it.  On the inside I used a piece of batik type fabric which has been in my stash for years so I was very happy to find a use for it at last.  The bag is completely reversible, so the batik look will be nice for the beach.  (sorry, forgot to take a pic of the inside!)

Happy Sewing

  7. All of the bags you made are lovely, but I must admit, I really love this floral with the blue background the best.
