I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!

POLAR FLEECE SCARVES & KNEE RUGS

I've just finished cutting lots of scarves and knee rugs from Polar Fleece - no sewing required, just cut and fringe!

My craft group is donating these to a Soup Kitchen to give to the homeless and I am also cutting up a few to take to my Mum's Nursing Home "Ekka Day" which is on next Wednesday..... Brisbane is famous for its yearly Ekka (Exhibition) ... as the Nursing Home residents are unable to attend the real Ekka, they have their own in the dining room!! I'm taking my Apron display again, as they really enjoyed looking at that last time and I will have a few items on a sale table for them (I try to keep everything around the $2 mark).

Another finish for July.........

Another Peter Rabbit quilt for our little B.B. - this is the flannel one I was making last week - I have washed and dried it - I'm happy with how it has turned out although the quality of the flannel pink backing fabric is not nearly as good as the quality of the Peter Rabbit flannels and it did "go fuzzy" a bit! Once again, I have used the wide binding technique I am so fond of!

It's a cool, rainy day here - guess where I'll be for the afternoon?

WWI - as both MH and I have been down with this horrible cold, we have not been to the gym so I did not get to weigh myself last week or this week..... so no change in my weight that I can report, except to say that the jeans are still fitting!

Happy Sewing!

  1. It sounds like you have been busy. You may need all of those scarves to keep you warm.

Hope that cold is gone soon.

  2. Sounds like a great day to stay inside. The head line in the paper yesterday was "Temps in the 90s, we call that a cold front!" It is cooler this week!
