I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

MR. POSTMAN, LOOK AND SEE - IS THERE A LETTER......

Wow! I'm surprised my mailman could lift the bag! I received 5 Siggies in the mail last week - thank you Puck, I love your Christmas Cat siggy and thank you Diane, your Peace Dove is beautiful. One envelope contained 3 siggy blocks - 1 from Beverly and 1 each from Katie and Abbey. Thanks girls, your Owl and Butterfly Siggy Blocks are fantastic.

I just love it when children are interested and involved in craft.

I'm working on B.B.'s Beach Quilt.... I needed to purchase some more of the fabrics to make the frames for each block. I went back to Patches Quilt Shop and thankfully they still had the whole range. Also found the rod ends to make a hanger for my Christmas Wallhanging! Finally found a wall with almost enough room to hang it - it's in the kitchen, covering up my "art gallery" (drawings and paintings from Chloe and Lalchie!) Next year it will have a better place to hang!

We have had the last of our xmas bbq's here at our home and last Sunday we had some extra little visitors..... a Mum and Dad Possum and their adorable baby!

I think I'll squeeze in one more posting tomorrow for Christmas Eve, then like many of you, I will be enjoying Christmas day with my family.

See you tomorrow......

  1. Hi Helen,

You received a lot of beautiful siggies, I think it's special to get so many in this time of the year when everybody is so busy arranging all kind of things for Xmas. I love reading about your Xmas BBQ's, I always forget that it is summertime in Australia. We had a lot of snow last week and it's still freezing and cold here, but that's the way it is in the Netherlands, although it's not so snowy and cold every year.
I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2010!

    Quilty hugs,
    Inge from the Netherlands

PS: I do hope there are not to many mistakes in this little comment, sometimes I doubt about how to write a word.......

  2. Helen, your siggies are so nice. Will they eventually be put together in a quilt? A bbq sounds like fun right now since it is so cold and snowy here. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
