I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

JUST HANGING AROUND!

It's hard to believe, but after all that work ---- I don't have a hanger big enough to hang the new Christmas Wallhanging!! I'm going to try and get one this week. So for now the new quilt is over the banister!

I have received lots of lovely little envelopes in the post this past week. Christmas Siggies from Inga and Marij and two new Siggy Blocks from Vera and Anita -- thank you ladies:-)

Yesterday I went Christmas Shopping! I had a most enjoyable day looking for Barbie Shoes and Handbags and Ben 10 articles (I just LOVE shopping for little children's presents!) I came home with everything on the list, so I was one happy shopper!

I have put up my Christmas decorations around the house.

Today I'm just fiddling around in the sewing room --- it needs a good clean and tidy, so I'm packing away the fabrics and stuff I'm finished with and trying to make an area on the table where the "must finish before Xmas" things can go! I really really want to finish the Beach Quilt.

The next posting should see a finished Beach Quilt and maybe even a new project..... I have to invent another hand project otherwise I will have nothing to do when MH and I go out for coffee!! .... and that just won't do!!!

Happy Sewing!

  2. Helen, Your Christmas quilt looks great. Can't wait to see your beach quilt soon. I too love shopping and making for children. They are always so excited to open gifts. I even have a grandson who used to call me with ideas for his "next" quilt. Merry Christmas.

  3. Merry Christmas Helen! I got a sweet little Airmail in the post today. The tiny quilt is fabulous; I will treasure it for sure! Everyone at my office has had a fit over the entire gift- even the stamp on the envelope! Thank you so much for your kindness. Here to you and yours a Merry Christmas, a wealthy, healthy New Year and love abounding.
