I love to sew, mainly quilts and bags. I am 66, married to Fred and have one son, Matthew, who is 27. I enjoy embroidery and applique and prefer to machine piece and quilt my projects. I love my vintage Singer sewing machines especially my Featherweight 222K. I’m enjoying treadling on my 201K Singer and I collect Miniature Sewing Machines and currently have three Essex , one Singer 20, one Singer 40, two Vulcan Miniatures and my latest, a Grain. My love of sewing I believe comes from my Grandmother - I still have the drawings she made for me to embroider on tea towels many many years ago!

THE OTHER DAY, ONE DAY, TODAY, THE NEXT DAY.... SOME DAY ..... THAT DAY....

Yes, we are all confused as to what day it is.... Corona virus is with us and we are all learning to live in a brand new way..... for us!  Our grandparents would not be having any problem living under these conditions... it was quite normal for them to be on the farm and not leave it for months.   As the saying goes.... you can learn a lot from your grandparents era.

So what am I up to these days?  Sewing... and lots of it😄

Let’s catch up since my last post.....

I’ve been treadling a lot on my 201k.... I love treadling so much, could sew all day.    I’m doing a civil war version of the STASHBUSTER block. I’m up to quilting it

I’ve received more SIGGY blocks so I’m sewing up a few more to have in hand.

SEWING THE PRETTY IN PINK BLOCKS ON MY 201K KNEE SHIFT
The “pretty in pink” quilt blocks have come out to play after being in the naughty corner for months and months....  when I was cutting the pieces to make this block from the layer cake I had purchased the units were not coming out well as the layer cake was not cut on grain.   So this time I’m making all the blocks smaller so I can cut the pieces accurately from the 10” squares.   So far, so good😁
RESURRECTED THE PRETTY IN PINK QUILT PROJECT

PURCHASED ANOTHER VINTAGE  OIL  BOTTLE FOR MY COLLECTION
STILL SEWING THE SCRAPPY STASHBUSTER BLOCKS

THE WONDERFUL GADGET I PURCHASED TO TRIM AND REFIT THE TREADLE BELT - WORKS BEAUTIFULLY

Despite many attempts, the layout of the photos will not stay where I want it.   I’m working on my iPad and it’s not as user friendly as the MacBook when doing Blogger.

Anyway..... I hope you enjoy this catch up... see you again soon.... stay well, stay safe...               STAY HOME!

TUMBLE TUMBLE

My tumbler table runner -  I recently made a Half Hexagon quilt with a tumbler border (more about that next Post) and I had these tumbler units leftover...... I now have a cute table runner!

Love the back as much as the front!

I pieced this on my Singer 222 Featherweight - so enjoyable to sew on this machine.

I quilted it on my 201K as I was trialling two different walking feet..... a generic cheapie that worked okay but got stuck going over thick seams and the walking foot from The Singer Featherweight Shop (I use this one on my Featherweight)..... this one worked beautifully, sewed over the seams like butter!

Another finish too......

My Elephant quilt is up on the wall!

Happy Sewing!!
